Who Am I?

I’m currently a rising senior at the University of Colorado, Boulder, studying Applied Mathematics and Biochemistry, with a minor in Leadership. Next year I’ll be continuing at the University of Colorado to obtain my Masters in Applied Mathematics.

I’ve lived in Colorado my entire life, and I love spending quality time with friends, exploring the outdoors, be that on a bicycle, a raft, climbing rocks, skiing, or just hiking around, and learning about the world around me.

I believe that understanding and knowledge come from data, powerful analysis tools, and effective communication.

Learning Applications

One of the main reasons I chose my field of study is that mathematic and statistic techniques and tools allow for incredible understanding about the world around us. Mathematics and statistics have given us the ability of magicians, able to make forecasts and predictions about future behavior and events.

I think that the most interesting applications of mathematics and statistics are these modeling and predictive applications, as well as applications to machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Through classes and self directed learning, I became fascinated with machine learning, the mathematical basis behind these models, and what applications these have in the real world. I decided to begin to explore and learn more about these applications through self-directed projects.

These projects represent a broad variety of applications of different modeling and predictive techniques. Some were performed using machine learning techniques, such as basic neural networks and ensemble models (such as random forests or gradient boosted decision trees). Others were created using more traditional techniques, such as interpolation using splines and polynomials, regression techniques including generalized least squares and PCA .

New Beginnings

In the summer of 2022, my friend finally convinced me to start exploring digital audio editing software to build music. I’m lucky enough that he was willing to spend time to provide me resources and give me an introduction to music theory and song design.

These are some of the music projects I’ve been working on recently. One is a finished instrumental song that was completed in late May of 2022, and one’s just beginning. By the end of summer, I hope to have six finished products.

I hope to continue to try new things, grow, and learn more about this amazing medium of expression. I’ve only recently entered the beautiful world of music design, and I invite you to come along for the ride as I explore music!
